Hello! How are you?. Far away of annoying me, to find me with your letter has been a very agreeable event. Without be given you count, it has pushed my wheelchair by the marvels of Nebrasca. The mule and the guitar of your brother. All very romantic. As if it would be a cinema movie. Ah!!!, I do not go to Nebrasca by if yet they fire to the strangers in the "saloon" as in the cinema movies of the American west (joke!, it is not vexed, Cherry).
If I succeed that was you woman and, furthermore, so nice woman as a "cherry" blushed, might have bet with decision to the fact that was you affected by the disease of the ataxia. Pues me equivocaba. ¿No, Cherry?. ¡¡¡GRACIAS CHERRY!!!

In answer to your question: my sons and I live halfway down a small mountain in a city on the Pacific coast of Canada. Behind me, where the mountain rises, there is a forest; below me, the mountain slopes down to an inlet. If I were to go out to the road in my wheelchair and take the brakes off, eventually I'd be in the water -assuming I didn't get hit by a car first. I hope that where you are, the skies are as blue and sunny as they are here today!

Hello!: "Cheated"? Not, I have not cheated to nobody. To lie that is to say the contrary than what is thought with intention of cheating. And, though between jokes, I said what was thinking: in that moment was not wanting be protagonist. But was adding: " go me to hear you". And I continue speaking, no?.
Your description of the place you live, Canada, equidistant between the mountains and the Pacific sea, it is very nice. Sure that the landscape is seemed to the beautiful panoramic conferences of the movies of Walt Disney. Give me desire of going me an afternoon to promenade with you by the steep streets of the city where do you live in these wheel chairs that both we need to use. But I do not am too qualified using the wheelchair and I yes can finish falling in the water of the Pacific. Ah!, but I have an idea: to tie with a both cord wheel chairs. Or we do not fall none to the sea, or we fall the two together. Oh Rawnie!, it sees you what compliment nicer can be extracted of my words: "- With you Rawnie, until the fund of the sea". Good, good... I relinquish the compliment gratuitously to your husband with the recommendation of repeating it frequently to the beautiful Rawnie. Give recollections to their sons. Rawnie, I do not am bad: simply I joke with you. Is worths?.

¡Hola!: ¿"Engañado"? No, no he engañado a nadie. Y sigo hablando, ¿no?.
¿Vale?.

Friend: How they are their sons John and Laura?. I do not know if the "would Love" with which you ratified the words of Laura in "Re: [INTERNAF] Another observation" were signed, or not it were. Perhaps I committed the mistake of attributing that short text to the user of Internet, Robert (your husband, I suppose). I request excuses.
I go to attempt to answer to your message, though it is easier to joke than to give a personal opinion (and only personal) of pain: In a principle, it is totally deniable that a ataxia not produces physical pain. But in the human beings (as rational beings) it is not possible to accomplish a division between physical pains and "psíquicos" (psyquical -?-). It is not feasible that division, because both are corresponded and are established in a same thing. That should know it very well a professional of the medicine. Until the purely imaginary diseases, of a sick "aprehensivo" (imaginary -?-), produce pain: And the sick "aprehensivo" (imaginary -?-) will feel a real pain, though there is not visible justified cause. A sick of ataxia falls to the soil repetitively and hurts the own knees, will feel little pain in the knees and much pain by dealing fallen, demolished, humiliated and without hope. For so much, a counting of what comes to accomplish a pains division? Oh!, by that division, we could say that a depression is not seen in the X-rays and because of this not cause physical pain. Since, in many occasions, a depression is terrible!. Very possibly, one of the greater pains of a ataxia is the progressive nature of the disease: It is very difficult, day to day, to arrange a deteriorated body and in progression with a mind fully in form. Caryn Roberts in "Re: [INTERNAF] DEPRESSION????", (31 Sea 97), in a written very sincere, tears speech someday when they have of helping to him to accomplish the personal hygiene. ( - Caryn, I also crying). But the greater test of the uselessness of wanting to effect a pains separation is in you, Suzanne. You, the mothers, by the love to their sons, suffer the pains from a ataxia without be even affected. What class of pain? Pain... without more... For what to divide it in classes?.

25- Subject: Day of the mother, 4/5/1997.

Friends of INTERNAF: Today, first May Sunday, it is the day of the mother. I believe that not only in Spain, also in the entire world the mothers have indicated this day for your holiday. With this motive of making a homage to the mothers, I have published an article in the modest magazine of my region. In INTERNAF there are many mothers: mothers that they are mothers in spite of the ataxia and, above all, mothers you fill with love and distressed by the hard disease that affects to your sons. Mothers of INTERNAF also you are deserved this homage. For you, I have attempted to translate to the English my article. (*) Name of the magazine of my region. (**) Name of this region. (name of the two rivers that here there is). (***) Name of the magazine of where I have copied the words of the Bishop Sir.

THE PHOTOGRAPH OF A MOTHER
Reader friends of the magazine "Regañón" (*), today first May Sunday, will be celebrated in all Spain the day of the mother. From these pages, I have wanted to add me to this festive commemoration and to make a homage to all and each one of the mothers of our region "Odra-Pisuerga" (**). The mothers are deserved our worship and respect, and much more.
In spite my good intentions, I do not have roll (neither good nor bad) to comply with this occupation of paying homage to the mothers. I explain I: Who are occasional scribes, when must try topics so serious and to so much importance in the life of the man, leaves to glow our literary ignorance. We remain ourselves without words to define so much greatness. One is realized of the fact that the own knowledge are very limited. And, in the impotence by creating a text adapted to the objective labeled, is agreed of the Greek philosopher Sócrates to be identified with his humility phrase: "Only I know that I do not know nothing". The explanation of the difficulty to tack some ideas in conformity with the importance of the topic, it is thus of simple: When one is agreed of the own mother to sing to the mother mission, wanted that the words would be so high and brilliant as to be written with star light in the celestial vault. And, in spite of so good desires, only has by occurrence isolated smallness: What smile!, what good to know be!, what abnegation!, what sacrifice!, how much fondness!, what valor!, what witness!, what intuition!, etc. etc. Ah!, it were forgotten me - or was intending to forget it by not to seem egotistic, that it is something else - : What well it cook, or was cooking!.

Though yet I possess the such of having mother, reader friends, in my culinary allusion, I have seen me obligated to use the past in combination with the present. I explain I: Each reader is the addressee of my words and perhaps some no longer may have the such of possessing mother here down. If, unfortunately, it would be thus, I encourage to you to close the eyes and to see to the mother through the fantasy. They do not may have you fear to untie a tear with that recollection inside out, they can you to offer to the mother that sigh as a posthumous homage and you will be felt alleviated, because the mother continues caring to the sons from the sky with the same fondness that was putting here on the land.
As have recognized not to have words of my own crop to pay homage to the mother, I have taken a borrowed text. The author of how much I go to transcribe is Monsignor Jara, Bishop of the Serena (Chile). I have copied the text of the magazine "EL Promotor" (***), number of May of 1996. Is going all over the mothers of the region "Odra-Pisuerga" (**):
"There is a woman in the life that has something of God by the immensity of your love and something of angel by our tireless request of their cares. It is a woman that being young, has reflections of the advanced age, and already in the oldness, continues working with the vigor of the youth. It is a woman that being ignorant, discovers the secrets of the life with more wisdom than a scholar, and if it is instructed, is accommodated to the simplicity of the children. It is a woman that being poor is satisfied of the simplicity of who loves, and being rich would give with pleasure all the exchequers by not to suffer in the heart the injuries from the ungratefulness. It is a woman that being vigorous, is shaken with the moan of a child, and being weak, is had sometimes with the courage of a lion. It is a woman that while lives, we do not know it to appreciate because to the side of she all the pains are forgotten us, but, after dead, we would give all what we have and all what are by watching it a moment, to receive from she an alone embrace, or an alone accent from their lips... Of this woman please not request me you the name if they do not want that drench of tears this album, because I saw it go through my road".
"When grow your children, upon reading this page, will say that a humble traveler, it has let here the photograph of you.". (Monsignor Jara, Bishop of the Serena (Chile).
This literary description, reader friends, it is not the personal photograph of my mother, neither either of the mother of the Bishop Sir author of the text that I have taken lent, it is photographs an common, valid for all and each one of the mothers. (Miguel-A.).

(Miguel-A.).

Dear Mrs. XXXXXXXX: For motives detached from my person, I carry the mail a little delayed. But I will answer to your message. In Spain there is a saying that says: "more is worths late, that never". Why they went to annoy me or to shame me the words of your message? I suppose that I leave infinitely it benefitted from the comparison. But who is it "Fernando Lamas"? !.........! All women: Kay, Pam, Michelle, Rawnie, Sue, Andrea, Luz, Ross, Cherry, Suzane, Marty .... What will have occurred in the stars to happen these so sudden changes? Bah!, they will be things of the comet Hope to his step about the land!
- Sir Kauffmann, qué says of this the voice of the experience? Abandon you Brazil and comes to Spain to help me to find a compliment for so much beauty. That it will be a soft compliment, because if it would be strong, would hit me the husbands!. Already I have it!: they are all you "some angels".
PS: Mrs. Kay, is not taken written it in serious: today it touches to laugh. But it of THANKS yes is serious

"No me sentiré nuevamente sólo".
¿He dicho galán? ¡Oh Señora Kay!, no me conoce.

Friend: Through your message, I can suppose that it is you a mother with ataxia of Friedreich and it has been felt discriminated after the reading of my written. I request excuses by if I have not been sufficiently clear as so that you is sat discriminated. Perhaps our wrong understanding is had to to difficulties caused by the translation: And you see discrimination where I have not wanted to make it, and I may I see a complaint where it does not exist. In the second paragraph of the introduction yes there was an allusion to the mothers with ataxia: "In INTERNAF there are many mothers: mothers that they are mothers in spite of the ataxia and, above all, mothers you fill with love and distressed by the hard disease that affects to their children".
In spite of the fact that the FA we hoard almost 50 percent of the ataxias, we are not the only. In the mothers with ataxia, they are included the mothers with FA. Be more concrete and to allude to mothers with FA, might have been a discrimination toward mothers with other types of ataxia. Friend Patti, I also I have FA and a sister with FA that it is mother of a girl. Accept you my excuses. Wanted that this understood evil is converted in a friendship. It can write me through INTERNAF, or to my particular mailbox, without requirements neither need of excuses nor explanations.

Me he equivocado.

Dear: Kathy, have you got a surname of French origin, not?. Kathy, it plays you with me with advantage in this game of the jokes. In the quality of translator of INTERNAF knows the languages, while I do not know to distinguish between a masculine name and one feminine. Ah Ross Ashley! Goes mistake have assignment with that sir! It will be vexed with me? I sit it by Ross, I no longer I go me to stop by a ridiculous. Believed that Ross was the feminine Spanish Mrs.Rose. Already I will have of be wary with this class of forecasts. Kathy it is a name used in Spain as abbreviation of Katia: girl name or of woman. But... you company as Katto, and the Spanish feminine adjectives finish in "a" and the masculine in "o". Must demand to put near the company in the message a sign for the males and other different for the females.
On the other hand, perhaps the English word "fans", that I put between questions as translation of the Spanish word "admiradoras", it would be very strong. That is a risk of the need of making translations. Woman?. Ah!, from now on same I consider to your person as one of my "fans". That yes: in an inferior degree to be pulled from the hair and to be fainted before my post office. Kathy, Kathy... it will be with me comprehensive. I threaten with sending for you love messages in a language little used if it would not be comprehensive with me. And is not taken to heart my threat.

¡Ah Ross!

Hello!: After of the serious assignment mistake with respect to Ross, it should care me about accomplishing forecasts. But as yesterday same receipt your message and you has not denied my affirmations in the letter sent to Kay, it is time do not have dread to mistake me: I deduce that it is you a woman by the "I'm new to ..." of your text and because Marti in Spanish is an abbreviation of the feminine name Martina. I continue deducing that it is you a married woman. I extract it of the name of the user of Internet: Terry Greenwood. Your husband, not Mrs. Marty? Oh what mores have you! In Spain a married woman never loses the heir surname of the natural family. What age have you got? I have 42. And a ataxia of Friedreich, or FA, as say you. You say be new in INTERNAF: "I'm new.. .". Also I was feeling me new in this Group. But that be felt new, it does not go from be a complex our. It is a simple prejudice, because here in INTERNAF is received all with the open arms. If you might not have received a warm WELCOME to the Group, I give to you to you a welcome on behalf of all.
With respect to that you only it speak English, we are equal, because I only I speak Spanish. Better said, you carries me advantage: You can be expressed in the used language customarily, while I need to express me in a language that it is not the mine. And in this letter can clarify before the list of INTERNAF that I do not know English, and I use a computer translator. Upon seeing my message in two languages you can think that I am some intellectual bilingual and I want to presume of this. Nothing else far from the reality. I add the copy in Spanish because, without that translation, it would not know to interpret what there I have written.

Usted dice ser nueva en INTERNAF: "I'm new...".
Hello!: Thanks by your message. Truth desire that Ross may not have been felt offended by my confusion. I do not understand very well the English language and in occasions do not reach to understand the content of the written, but either I understand very well the proceed of you. I believe that there are private things that need a private mail. However, I think that we abuse of the private mail. All can provide something to the life of all, not only when we speak directly of ataxia. I believe in that: in INTERNAF as group of friends. And sometimes it seems a contacts agency. Since, very soon, we received a private post office heap and we have of answering in deprived without existing concrete cause that break our intimacy. And thus, with that form of acting, disappearing from the signatories from INTERNAF obligated when already we have the necessary contacts. And it is not that. We need to share our sadnesses and happiness, jokes and tears, yes, also I have said: tears. Tears, for what not? And all is worths for the post office if it is said with the due respect to the other. All the lessons on ataxia are interesting and necessary and they are very well, but seems me very poor be remained only there. For that would suffice with some professor that explained to us a daily doctoral thesis.
Bruce, already I know that I am a naive, a crazy that is not inserted with nobody and only thinks about utopias. Because... here in this roll of the affected by the ataxia, to dream is the only one road to be evaded of a unsatisfactory reality, but,? not believes you that we abuse of the private mail? Perhaps too we have prejudices and we want to cover our own miseries.

Tal vez tenemos demasiados prejuicios y queremos tapar nuestras propias miserias.

Hello Suzanne, Rose, Valerie, Sharon, Cindy, Sue, Pamela, to all in INTERNAF!: Suzanne, I take me the freedom of answering to your message deprived through INTERNAF: Because here, in addition to to you, I want to send a greeting to Rose, Sue, Pamela, and to Valerie, that had the amiability of writing as response to "Day of the mothers", to the Mrs. Sharon, mentioned in this text that originates my response and, also, to Cindy, that yesterday was writing "Pain" and to all the mothers of INTERNAF.
I do not understand nothing of the life: Nothing... nothing ... nothing ... I believe that the human being, though sometimes believes to know what is all ... it does not know nothing ... Today I have wanted to give to you as consolation some nice thinks of the writer of Lebanon, Jail Gibrán, of the book "The Prophet". Says my friend Mrs. Rosa that my English "is to be died of laugh". Yes, but each one makes what there can. To risk of spoiling the beautiful words of Jail Gibran because of the English evil of my computer translator (that not even mine), I will try to translating for you those thinks. If my words left writhe, there it is the Mrs. Rosa: " - Hola Rosa!, if my translation would not be good, have you got work to give the correct version in English of the thought of Gibran"."""When you quiver of happiness, watch you in what is deep of the heart and proven then that only that that before has given sadness is returning happiness. And, when you quiver of sadness, watch again in the heart and proven that they are you weeping therefore before would be happiness""". (Gibran).
"Not to good Mothers Day present!!!" - says you. Not, Suzanne, not. It will have been a good day. Though we do not understand nothing ... nothing ... nothing ..., between that pain of the heart and the happiness there is no no separation. Both are corresponded. The sadness -according to Gibran- returns happiness. Those sons by who are sad, they are your happiness. These ideas are difficult to understanding from our humanity ... but I believe of truth that they are correct.

(Gibran).
"Not a good Mothers Day present!!!" - dice usted.

Hello!: They are gone to vex with us other members of INTERNAF if we return to speak of soccer. If we continue, they go to send us to you and to me to other group of news. Good... good ... I will answer: Oh!, I start with a muddle in my head. "Footsie", "footy", "soccer". ?......?. I believe that to see and enjoy soccer must dispense of be passionate by one of the contenders. If we do not know to dispense of the passion by an equipment, only we can enjoy the victory, but not of the game. Here in Spain is not said "suporter". It is said "forofos", or "hinchas". I do not am "forofo" of any soccer club. I am a correct type. It has been fixed you: the "forofos" of the soccer have the dirty mouth and are agreed in negative with words of the mother of the umpire.
THANKS for be agreed of me and to watch the map. The Valladolid is not of my city neither either of my province. Though the Valladolid has this year a good punctuation, it is a very modest equipment and other years is by the tail of the classification or decreases to second division. In house I find me between two fires: my nephews are of the Real Madrid, and my father of the Barcelona. These are the large Spanish and eternal equipment rivals. "- Barcelona, or Barça, that of Ronaldo, Sir Kauffmann". I me shame blush upon hearing the thousands waste of million of the large soccer equipment, money spares for the compelling needs. I believe that there it has been lost the sports vision in favor of a set of economic interest. No longer it is sufficient to play or to participate, one must to earn and all is worths to earn. In the world of the soccer no longer abound the gentlemen.
PS: When they play the Real Madrid or the Barcelona against the Manchester United or against the Liverpool, already it will be I recalled what is to you or to Chris . Ah!, I do not me muddle to slaps by the soccer, if you or Chris mean that our Spanish equipment are bad .... I say: AMEN. But .... already we will see it after in the game area.

Dear Mrs. Andrea: Was not my intention to write to you so soon, but to the sight of the last text in INTERNAF on "carengiv..", I have decided me to write. In the written cited on "carengiv.. ." I see as your daughter affected by ataxia is called Vicky. How it is Vicky?. I was not understanding nothing of the words of INTERNAF. It was not finding "carengiv.. ." in the dictionary and believed that was some strange class of ataxia. Now I understand. "Carengiv.. ." is a word composed and, according to the completion, means "to sustain a load" or "be felt a load".
I believe that that yes exists, but they are thinks and negative feeling senses in our interior. In obligation, we should attempt to reject those negative feelings. So much if we are donors as if we are receiving, to recall that, only it can serve us as obstacle for a better fulfillment as the own reality as each one. There is an essential thing in this life and it is the love. In the love, to give and to receive are a same thing. Who gives, it is loving, and who receives also: gives love in the measure of its possibilities. Both, in different positions, satisfy the need of the human being ofloving. To speak of "carengiv..." is to employ a negative term and to ignore the mystery of the love where until the weakest has something that provide. Yes Mrs. Andrea, you care about Vicky, but, at the same time, your daughter is for you the happiness, and for her, your mother also it is the personal happiness. Mrs. Andrea, an embrace for you and other for Vicky...

Abroad we have the wrong usage of identifying England with all the Gran Britain: we nominate English to all the inhabitants of the islands, forgetting Welsh and Scotland. I excuse me, but this yes was knowing it I. However you should not be felt offended. This do not go from be small appraisals that we have of setting aside to understand us with facility in a group as INTERNAF where coexist multiple nationalities. And we should not add complications to the difficulties stemmed from our differences of languages. For example: I, an and again, I speak in my messages of my Spanish language. That is not a correct appraisal, but would add difficulties to understand us if I make the correct appraisal. What is correct would be said language "Castellano" (of Castilla). But you would understand me?. I believe that not. Therefore, yet knowing that I say an incorrectness, I allude to the language "Spanish".

Of my experience, a thing I have very clear: The stability, or instability, psychological have a great power to impose a slow pace, or a rapid pace to the degenerative process.

And some Dutch, and some Spanish, and some Italian and some German, etc. Yes, I know that the main scum that terrorised Europe came from our shores during the 1970s and 1980s but we have done much to try to clear our game of the hooligans. Unfortunately, because of what our fans used to be like, the police in many European countries pre-judge all english football supporters and there have been many recent incidents where English fans have been beaten up by police before getting near the ground and for no reason - particularly in Portugal (where Porto were actually fined by UEFA) and Turkey. As for the Scots, they are wonderful people but when it comes to sport there is great rivalry between Scotland and England. Many people make the mistake of thinking that England IS the rest of the UK aswell so dont worry about that Miguel.

Dear Danny and Sammy: A Spanish of INTERNAF has advised me not to speak here of soccer, since would create me complications. I do not I understand it. For my the soccer is a topic of dialogue, but not of discussion. It is as the allusion to the atmospherical time between neighboring: - Today it makes good time ... the day is very cold... makes a terrible wind ... is going to rain ... Only that: a simple topic of conversation and nothing else... neither I understand that there are polemicss nor I seek them. Already I have said to see in the soccer a sport to enjoy though is lost.
And if I have offended with my allusion to the "hooligan" English, was not that my intention. Already I warned it with my words: "SOME (with capital letters)", "do not seek polemics", "without spirit of offending", "exalted is everywhere". Danny, of course, exalted also there are in all the Europe countries and in all the sports. For example, yesterday, in the end of the Spanish Basketball League, an individual was jumping to the earthly of game with a weapon. With my allusion to the "hooligan" English, only was intending to put a color note with my humor. And that, was letting it to see well clear with the warnings alluded in the second paragraph. Danny, please, it seems to you well let it in a tie ... with gol's, or without gol's... as you wish.

Friend: Reflect you that all has a limit. And when you creates it necessary, it use the wheelchair without no class of prejudices. But if it would be possible, it abandon in the intimacy of the household the wheelchair during short moments. No matter what there is of creeping. Think that that exercise of creeping, if you is remained in the comfort of the wheelchair, must accomplish it of other form. And it does not create you that by giving advice, I all it have made well. To the contrary. Also I have depressed me and I have wept much ... and I believe that I do not have to shame me by saying it. The theories are not the same as practices. Spirit !.

¡Animo!.
