Dear INTERNAFers: Yesterday, with reason of the question of Russ about cutting the meat in a restaurant, I requested, openly and please, to Rawnie that narrates the anecdote of the quail in a English restaurant. Rawnie at this time is busy adapting to a new computer. I have looked for that narration of RAWNIE in the memory of my hard disk and I will hit it here another time for you:
""Years ago, my best friend and I went to England. One day, we had a fight and weren't speaking to each other but, as we had reservations at a fancy restaurant that evening, went to dinner together. Although I needed help cutting my meat, I was too angry to speak to her and she just sat there sullenly drinking from a bottle of wine.
I ordered a roasted whole quail {a small bird] and spent many minutes futilely trying to cut some meat off. Finally, in frustration, I stabbed at the bird but the knife slipped and the roasted quail went flying through the air and landed on a man's table.

My friend jumped up and drunkenly shouted at the bird:
"COME BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE DEVIL!!!"
For the first time, I actually 'wanted' to fall down -under the table"". (Raw).

""Hace años, mi mejor amiga y yo fuimos a Inglaterra.
(Raw).

351- Subject: Re: [internaf] Stress and Ataxia?, 13/5/1998.

Friends: Personal answer to the chain of messages "Subject: [internaf] Stress and Ataxia ?": From my experience like ataxian, I find very easy to affirm that my biggest periods of progression in the disease have been accompanied by depression times or of edginess. However, that can be unavoidable. And at most, we can contribute small help. It is simply a symptom more than the ataxia, as the lost of balance. We can help to counteract our stress situation, but never to eradicate it of root. We don't only have the complexity of any human mind added to our state of immobility [pointed by my countryman and friend Vicente]... we should not forget the intimate relationship of the ataxia with the Central Nervous System.
While I was farming, my family accused me of considering excessive concerns for the relative thing to my activity. It was very certain, but it was a simple one my stratagem: a question of stuffing the space of a bigger problem with a smaller problem. In fact, the health of the cows, or the arrival of the spring rains, I cared very little. Nevertheless, Y was aware that if it put in my mind those problems, I covered the terror that caused me my ataxia.
Today, I have an enormous hiper-activity. I know that that causes me stress and it produces me continually quickly a feeling. But I am unable to take a rest. The activity has taken possession of my mind. What began as therapy, today is therapy and, at the same time, like a drug that every day demands me more and more. This is a vicious circle where the ataxia is the principle and the end. Without a doubt, I will obtain advice, very good advice also, but for me the solution at the moment doesn't exist. Who is able to eliminate the ataxia of that viciouscircle?. And, please, don't I seek to discourage to the other ones neither to paint them the future of black color. I seek that the other ones know that those small miseries that they believe to feel, also happen us to the other ones.

Friends: I agree with ----------: Only the kindness can conquer and, even, to defeat a person. A rough answer puts us at the same level of education of the presumed offender. I agree also with Pat: the excessive difficulties of our life can produce effects of irritability that are manifested in an irascible way. That should be comprehensible from the human point of view. In some moment, our difficult circumstances can come out victorious on our kind character.
The topic proposed by Sharon finds me praiseworthy, because it allows us a humorous vision of our circumstances. However, we should remember that all this is humorous anecdotes that don't belong together with the reality in spite of taking place a wound. According to an African proverb: "It produces more noise a tree that falls to the floor that an entire forest growing". Those anecdotes cause us noise, but the reality is very different. For each imbecile that tells us something inadequate, there are a thousand kind people [that smile us or that they hold the door while we enter or we leave]... other a thousand people wanted to help but they don't dare for a series of prejudices... and other a thousand people that make a mistake with good intention because their culture is this way, and our susceptibility of sick is irritated without reason [for example, this is the case of those that say to pray for us].
Now I will count my last anecdote: In the minuscule population where I live [70 inhabitants], it is not easy to find people down the street. One day that I had gone out to the street with my wheelchair, an automobile stopped next to me. The driver opened the window and I wonder for the home of a person. I didn't understand the name and I asked: "- Who?". He repeated the name, but I neither understood, and I told him: "- Please, you should stop the noise of the motor of the vehicle and to repeat it again". Immediately, this person escaped from the place leaving me a wound. I thought: This person believes that I am silly and to speak with me is a loss of time :-) .

359- Subject: The beauty of the roses, 8/6/1998.

"The beauty of the roses
is that being so beautiful,
they don't know that they are it".
The wind yes knew it,
the light of the day also knows it,
and the poet that sings this song
also knows that they are beautiful.
To be beautiful is characteristic of the roses,
the wind knows it, but them...?,
they don't know that they are it.
(Fermín de Mieza).

"La belleza de las rosas
es que siendo tan hermosas
no saben que lo son".
El viento sí lo sabia,
lo sabe la luz de día,
y el poeta en su canción
también sabe que lo son.
De ser rosas es ser bellas,
lo sabe el viento, ¿pero ellas...?,
ellas no saben que lo son.
(Fermín de Mieza).
